We’re thrilled that the British Journa
l of Photography iPad app, which uses Mag+ software, has won “Best Multimedia Initiative of 2011” from its publisher Incisive Media. This is a well-deserved victory against tough publisher-wide competition. After nine months at the R&D grindstone, the app broke onto the scene with 5,000 downloads in its first two days. Now that number sits at 50,000 – astounding given the magazine’s 7,846 print readers. It’s the most popular kid on the block in the iTunes photo and video collection.
So what’s all the fuss about? At its heart, BJP has tapped the full potential of digital publishing software. Far from being a PDF duplicate of the print edition, the digital version boasts extra features, video and multimedia to really bring its content to life. The app also incorporates unrivalled coverage of the emerging HD-DSLR video market. Plus there’s up-to-the-minute live news from BJP-Online and a handy share function.
Thanks to BJP, readers around the world are able to engage with photography like never before, appreciating the gorgeous imagery, elegant design and thought-provoking articles that will keep this 150+ year old title well ahead of its competition.
Digital platforms are the next frontier in publishing. Here at Mag+ we’re proud to help publishers like BJP break new ground.
