mag+ Brings Outside Magazine’s Buyer’s Guide+ to the iPad

New York City  – Adding to its international roster of publishing partners, mag+ announces that Outside magazine has adopted the mag+ tablet publishing system. The “Outside Magazine Buyer’s Guide + (plus)” app for the iPad is now available for free in the iTunes App Store, offering users an extensive free preview issue of the 2011 Spring/Summer Buyer’s Guide. The complete issue can be purchased on iTunes for $3.99.

The title joins more than two dozen others currently on the mag+ platform, including Popular Science+, Transworld Snowboarding+, and IDG’s MacWorld, as well as cookbooks from Williams-Sonoma. mag+ is the most flexible and efficient platform for publishing creative content on touchscreen tablets, developed for the needs of creative professionals.

mag+ was developed by Bonnier for the launch of Popular Science magazine on the first Apple iPads, and spun off Moving Media+ in January 2011 to focus on developing and marketing the platform. mag+ enables users to build as much as they want free of charge, reviewing content in a fully functional Reviewer app on their iPads, and pay only when they’re ready to publish through a branded reader app. Platform features include analytics from Omniture, Localytics or Flurry; in-app subscriptions; Tapjoy, Admob and Appirator integration, as well as a powerful Web-based backend for managing issues and features.

The Outside Magazine Buyer’s Guide + (Plus) app delivers the expert product reviews and how-to advice from the print editions of the Buyer’s Guide in a stunning digital format that includes enhanced photography and tap-to-purchase links. The 2011 Spring/Summer issue, sponsored by REI, covers the very best in adventure gear, from sports equipment, tools, and gadgets to footwear, outerwear, and sunglasses. The issue includes 14 best-in-class “Gear of the Year” winners, more than two-dozen “Killer Values”—as well as 125 products under $100—and a special women’s section packed with travel and active-lifestyle essentials. The app features full-screen product shots and pinch-and-zoom capabilities.

The “Outside Magazine Buyer’s Guide + (plus)” app will exclusively host the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter editions of the Outside Buyer’s Guide. Outside Magazine’s iPad app, Outside Magazine + (plus), which features enhanced digital editions of the monthly publication, is also available in the iTunes store.
